{"id":161127,"date":"2020-02-28T12:38:35","date_gmt":"2020-02-28T11:38:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/plumvillage.org\/practice-centre\/stream-entering-monastery\/"},"modified":"2024-01-08T12:00:40","modified_gmt":"2024-01-08T11:00:40","slug":"stream-entering-monastery","status":"publish","type":"practice_centre","link":"https:\/\/dev.plumvillage.org\/id\/practice-centre\/stream-entering-monastery","title":{"rendered":"Stream Entering Monastery"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In 2010 five monastic disciples of Thich Nhat Hanh (1926 &#8211; 2022), together with the support of many lay sanghas in Australia,&nbsp;founded the community of&nbsp;Stream Entering Monastery &#8211;&nbsp;<strong>Tu vi\u1ec7n Nh\u1eadp L\u01b0u &#8211; a nunnery<\/strong>&nbsp;at Beaufort, Victoria, Australia&nbsp;and held the first monastic Rains&#8217; Retreat there in May 2010.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In June 2021,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.nhapluu.org\/stream-entering-monastery\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stream Entering&nbsp;<\/a>Monastery&nbsp;was relocated to 530 Porcupine Ridge Road, Porcupine Ridge, which is about an hour north of&nbsp;Melbourne.&nbsp;We are very lucky to enjoy the presence of kangaroos and other wildlife on and around our land.&nbsp;&nbsp;Since then, all activities have been held at the new location under the Sisters&#8217;s guidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All people of all nationalities and all faiths and beliefs are welcome to&nbsp;visit Stream Entering Monastery. We never ask anyone to abandon their&nbsp;traditions and practices. We are simply here to share our learning about the wonderful benefits of mindfulness&nbsp;meditation and the insights offered by our teacher Thich Nhat Hanh and Shakyamuni Buddha. Nobody needs to become a Buddhist to participate with us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sisters&nbsp;host Days of Mindfulness every Sunday and joyful \u201cworking bee\u201d community days&nbsp;&nbsp;at the monastery,&nbsp;to which all are welcome.
