We do everything in a spirit of meditation, whether it is walking to the bathroom, washing the dishes, or listening deeply to the sound of the bell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The daily schedule in Plum Village varies depending on the season and the retreat, and varies slightly between the different hamlets. Every day we practice <strong>sitting meditation<\/strong>,<strong> walking meditation<\/strong>, <strong>mindful eating<\/strong> and <strong>mindful working<\/strong> together as a community. There is always a period of &#8220;<strong>Noble Silence<\/strong>&#8221; from the last evening activity until after breakfast the next day. The talk is offered by one of our Dharma teachers, or by Thay (Thich Nhat Hanh) through a recorded-DVD, and\u00a0is followed by walking meditation all together through the beautiful orchards and woods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-earth-color\"><strong>General Practice Weeks<\/strong><\/mark><\/span><br>During the general practice weeks in Winter, Spring, Autumn and the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/dev.plumvillage.org\/articles\/the-spirit-of-the-3-month-rains-retreat-part-1\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rains Retreats<\/a>, retreatants have an opportunity to follow the monastics&#8217; routine schedule to deepen the fundamental practices of sitting and walking meditation, chanting, touching the earth, mindful eating and working. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The whole community gathers on Thursdays and Sundays for a full&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dev.plumvillage.org\/ja\/days-of-mindfulness\/\">Day of Mindfulness<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;in one of the hamlets. The rest of the week is spent in our &#8220;home hamlet&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you arrive we offer a full orientation about Plum Village mindfulness practice and the practice schedule for your stay. There will not be &#8220;Dharma sharing&#8221; families. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-fresh-earth-background-color has-background is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Here is what a typical day in Plum Village might look like<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>5:00am: Wake up<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6:00am: Sitting Meditation<br>(followed by Sutra Reading \/ Touching the Earth \/ Slow Walking Meditation)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7:00am: Physical exercise<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7:45am: Breakfast<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9am: Dharma Talk \/ Class \/ Presentation \/ Mindful service<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11:30am: Walking meditation in nature <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12:30pm: Lunch<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1:30pm: Rest or Optional Guided Relaxation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3pm: Dharma sharing or mindful service<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6pm: Light dinner<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8pm: Personal study time\/ sitting meditation or other collective practice<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9.30pm: Noble Silence begins<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10pm: Lights out<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>There is often time in the early morning or late afternoon for personal exercise (eg.
