Plum Village is a monastery and mindfulness practice centre, where monks, nuns, lay men and lay women explore the art of mindful living, together as community, in a spirit of joy and peace.
Single lay practitioners, couples and families join us throughout the year, for short or long stays. The collective energy of everyone practising mindful walking, mindful breathing, deep listening and loving speech, is very powerful – much more powerful than the energy generated only by one person.
As more and more people wish to come and practice with us, we are adapting to the needs of our time.
It is possible to stay with us as a couple, in any one of our hamlets.
We ask couples to please follow the following guidelines to support the collective energy of the whole community of monks, nuns and lay practitioners during your stay:
- Plum Village is a practice centre and a monastery, therefore we request that you abstain from sexual relations during your stay. We also request that you show your love for your beloved without kissing and caressing, especially in public.
- If you are not yet familiar with the Five Mindfulness Trainings, we would kindly ask you to read them, in particular the third.
- During your retreat in Plum Village, if you would like to know more about mindfulness practices that can help in relationships, please don’t hesitate to ask one of the monks or nuns.
With a deep bow of gratitude for your support and understanding,
The monks and nuns of Plum Village
